Why This Recipe Works
Roasting at high heat brings out the natural sweetness of Brussels sprouts, while shallots soften and caramelize into delicate, slightly sweet ribbons. Bacon adds richness and crunch, tying everything together into one irresistible dish.
It’s simple, but it tastes like something you’d order at a restaurant.
A few tips for success are; avoid overcrowding, cut the brussel sprouts evenly to help them cook at the same pace and don’t over stir, you want them to brown evenly.
If you’d like to try different variations, here’s a few suggestions. Try tossing in some minced garlic, or add a drizzle of maple syrup or honey before roasting. For a spicy version sprinkle some red pepper flakes. Or finish with crumbled goat cheese instead of parmesan.
