University Place Pop Up Market 2019 – Coming September 14
The community has been hoping and wishing for University Place to have a farmers market and I’m so happy to report our wishes are coming true. We’ve got a great town and community – perfect for a market! A huge thanks to Rebecca and many other’s for their hard work and dedication.
This year there’ll only be two markets to gauge needs and wants for the start of the Farmers Markets coming Spring 2020!
Please come by stay for the whole evening or just to check it out, let’s support our need for a market. Family-friendly, kid station, food vendors, locally made, solar lights when the sun sets and more. Market will be outside in the back parking lot of Brassfields Salon and Spa – 7326 27th St W, Tacoma.
Please note the time change for September 14 market 6-9 pm

**Be sure to bring your knives and/or scissors to the market to get them sharpened.
My mission at Tacoma Sharpening is simple: to provide high-quality sharpening services for people in my community. I do this because I find it a pleasure to use correctly maintained and sharp tools, whether that be cooking, crafting, woodworking, or gardening. Knowing that I have restored some pride of ownership and use to my clients is honestly the most rewarding part of this work. At this time I exclusively use guided angle hand sharpening methods. This helps ensure that minimal material is removed while at the same time giving you a precise, strong, and super sharp edge.
BluRoosterFarm
We are a small, family farm raising lamb, chickens, ducks and produce, seasonally. We have been working our farm with sheep and chickens since 2016, learning as much as possible and putting into practice advice we receive from seasoned farmers. Among the first group of chicks we raised was our very own Blue Andalusian rooster, Blu (or Blubell). He has since graced our farm name and logo with his proud image. Our lamb is USDA processed and packaged for customers who enjoy 100% pastured and grass-fed lamb raised locally.
As of last year, we have Romney wool and offer pelts to those customers using this textile for hand-made, artisan products. We have 60+ chickens who provide us with plentiful and colorful eggs (and attitudes!) Our chickens and ducks are raised cage-free and pasture around our pond, orchard, and fields. They produce eggs with bright yolks and are sold at a few local corner stores as well as from our farm directly.
Our produce yields a small harvest of apples, pears, quince, seasonal greens and new this year (2019) we are trying our hand at growing several varieties of corn and squash. We strive to use organic practices with our livestock and produce. Overall, our main purpose is to bring glory to God in all our endeavors, as well as bring fresh products to those who appreciate and enjoy farm-raised food.

Back in high school sisters Theresa and Stacie, former Snohomish County Dairy Princess and 4H dairy cow enthusiast, worked together at the local Baskin Robbins in their home town. As a first job experience outside of the family’s business, the sisters consider the ice cream shop to be the most fun job a teen could get. It was a community gathering place where their friends worked and frequented. Nearly everyone who walked into the shop was in a good mood. And why wouldn’t they be? It’s ice cream! After pursuing other careers, the sisters decided to follow their dream to own and operate their own local ice cream company together: Bliss Small Batch Creamery.
Because they are making their own ice cream locally in small batches, the flavor creation possibilities are endless. As moms with kids with food allergies and chemical reactions, they are committed to only using the very best natural ingredients that are free from any artificial dies, flavors and preservatives. They also offer a variety of options that are dairy free, egg free, gluten free and nut free.

“We wanted dessert without the chemicals!”
We stumbled upon the recipe for Gabster’s Homemade almost by accident…
I bought a small ice cream maker so my daughter and I could make a dessert together. It was really important to me that she eats as many healthy and natural foods as possible and in too many store-bought desserts, there’s a plethora of preservatives and chemicals.
So, I prepared a recipe for a sugar-free and dairy-free frozen custard. I thought it was good and so did my little one. But I knew that both of us were biased because we made it ourselves. I had a feeling that my husband’s opinion would be a bit less unbiased. His sweet tooth is unlike any other I’ve ever seen! He tried a spoonful and his eyes lit up like two searchlights in the night sky.
“Honey, this is seriously the best thing I’ve ever had in my entire life!”
We knew we had something special.
We know you’ll love it as much as we do.

Vendor Highlights from the August 24 market!
I’ll leave up all the vendors info from both the 8/24 and 9/14 markets, just in case you want to shop them throughout the year.
Kid station – Mia owner/teacher of Casita Mia is volunteering to keep our kids engaged and happy while they visit the kid’s station. Make sure to stop by and say “Hi”
Casita Mia means “my little house”.
I strive to ensure that my students feel welcomed, and at home in my classes.
My hope is that students and caregivers leave my classes feeling excited about Spanish and empowered to engage with Spanish speakers the world over.
Whether Preschool, Elementary, or Parent-Child, Casita Mia classes all have one thing in common – Fun! And Spanish of course.
I base my teaching off of research in language acquisition, mimicking the way children naturally learn a first-language. Think of a toddler learning their first words – how do you teach them? Talk to them, read to them, sing to them, play with them!
Another method you’ll see in my classes is TPR (total physical response). We move our bodies as we sing songs, read stories, and play games. This helps learners create memories – in Spanish!
My experience as an educator and mother guide me in creating emergent curriculum based on student interest, changing seasons, and various themes that keep learning relevant to children’s lives.

BG’s Gourmet BBQ Sauce
Great with Beef, Pork, Poultry & Fish
Growing up in Kansas City I knew what Great BBQ tasted like.
There are two things that make Great BBQ.
1. The Meat, has to be tender, juciy with a smokey flavor that melts in your mouth
2. The BBQ sauce has to compliment the meat and your taste buds.
I decided to create a BBQ sauce that would have a sweet taste with a spicy bite. BG’s Gourmet BBQ Sauce was hand-crafted in the kitchen using spices to create a nice flavorable BBQ sauce.
BG’s Gourmet BBQ Sauce is family owned and operated.
BG’s Gourmet BBQ Sauce is located
in the greater Seattle, WA area
We hope you enjoy BG’s Gourmet BBQ Sauce.
