The BEST Slow Cooker Baked Beans
In my opinion you can’t have a barbecue without the baked beans! Sweet and savory baked beans make the perfect addition to your meal. Although you can’t go wrong with a can of pre-made baked beans, it definitely isn’t the same as homemade baked beans. If you weren’t aware, making your own baked beans in the crock pot is very easy and takes you only 5 minutes of prep time.
We use our slow cooker at least once a week; whether it’s going to be a busy day dinner, have no room on the stove/oven for a dish, don’t want to heat up the house with the oven or even want to stay close to a slow cooking soup on the stove. My slow cooker works perfectly for this Baked Beans recipe, you don’t have to turn on the oven or sit around while they simmer on the stove.
Let’s cook up some baked beans!
Get out your slow cooker, pan and all your ingredients. Dice up your onion and pepper, put your beans and bacon bits in the slow cooker. No need to stir just yet.
In a large pan heat olive oil over medium high, then add diced onion and pepper. Saute for about 3-4 minutes or until softened.
Stir in the rest of the ingredients into the pan with the onion and pepper. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce has thickened.
Remove from heat and add to the slow cooker. Stir to combine everything. Close lid and cook on low for 3-4 hours or high for 1-2 hours.
Set your slow cooker to “keep warm” if you’re not quite ready to eat yet. Serve warm when you’re ready.
