Instant Pot Beef and Bean Stew
The instant pot is a well loved cooking gadget in our kitchen, it can be used to prepare a lot of foods and once you learn how to use it, it’s so easy. It’s great to be able to prepare a whole meal in one pot and also use the pressure cooker to have a meal done in no time. For dinner the other night we made a beef and bean stew in under 35 minutes in one pot so clean up was a breeze and it was very simple but full of flavor. We paired our stew with cornbread but it would also taste good with rice, mashed potatoes or tortilla chips. This recipe is quick, easy, tasty and is perfect for these chilly fall or winter evenings. Is great as leftovers too.
Turn your instant pot to saute, spray a little cooking spray on the bottom and brown your ground beef, breaking it up with a spatula as it cooks. Sprinkle some salt and pepper over the ground beef. While your ground beef is cooking, chop up your onions and set aside.
When your ground beef is cooked; stir in your onions, brown sugar, chili powder, celery salt, tomato sauce and beans. After it’s all mixed turn your Instant Pot to “pressure” low for 20 minutes and turn the valve to “sealing”. When it’s all done either give it a few minutes to self release but if you need to do a quick release carefully switch the valve to “venting”.
Serve warm with a slice of cornbread or tortilla chips, rice or mashed potatoes. Enjoy!
*This recipe works great in the crockpot as well, cook on low for 4 hours but don’t forget to brown the ground beef in a pan before. Or bake in oven at 325° for 2 hours.
*Looking for a quick and easy way to make delicious cornbread? We buy the small blue box of Jiffy corn muffin mix, following the directions on the box but I add in 2 Tbsp honey and 2 Tbsp butter and also after it’s done cooking I rub butter all over the top.
