Summer Bucket List
It’s officially summer, and the beginning of the kids summer break. I love creating a summer bucket list of all the fun things we want to do. I fortunately get to stay home with the kids, the only obligations we have are the animals. We go on so many adventures, explore a lot of the outdoors. Eat lots of summer foods, wake and fall asleep with the sun.
The list below is our Summer Bucket List, what do you and your family enjoy doing during the summer?
Summer Bucket List
Delicious BBQ from Ranch House BBQ & Steakhouse in Olympia
BBQ
I love barbequing, just cooking outside makes me happy, also the smell and taste! Mmm… Of course I’ve got the typical hotdogs/brats down, but I’d love to really learn how to cook from good BBQ food. I’m talking brisket, ribs, and pork shoulder.
Send me all the links for some good recipes to attempt.
Watch Fireworks
The 4th of July is a big thing for my family. I love the food spread, and it kicks of the celebration to my youngest’ birthday which is on the 5th. And of course there’s the fireworks, I really enjoy watching them – except for the really loud ones or when people get reckless.
Anderson Point Park has a great beach!
Beach & Waterparks
We love spending time at the beach, and in the water. We are very fortunate to live in the gorgeous Pacific Northwest, where we are surrounded by water! We typically visit the beach numerous times over the summer, and plan on doing the short drive to Tacoma for some waterparks.
This beach/picnic blanket is our favorite!!
This camp stove is great!
Camping
We love camping! Although we live like we’re camping everyday, there is something about enjoying nature & being disconnected at a campground.
And we just became proud new owners of a Sprinter Camper Van that my in-laws created. We are looking forward to adventures this summer, and beyond!
Make Pizzas, S’mores & Ice Cream
We love creating homemade pizzas with our favorite toppings! And bake them in my son’s pizza oven. We also consume a ton of s’mores and ice cream. Of course we do our traditional end of summer ice cream for dinner – always a fav!
Reading
We’re signed up for our local library’s Summer Reading program, and looking forward to reading/listening to some books this summer.
Can’t wait to lay out in my hammock this summer and read a good book!
Medieval Night
I’ve been meaning to do this the past couple summers, have a medieval dinner meal outside and eat with our hands. There’s a lot of good recipes saved on my Pinterest that I’d love to try.
Movie In The Park
One of our favorite things during summer time used to be going to the movies in the park. We still love to do it, but unfortunately they don’t have as many in our area now. BUT. If there is any happening around us, we’ll be attending. Otherwise, we’ll probably visit the drive-in near us!
Explore Olympic Peninsula
We haven’t explored the Olympic Peninsula in a couple years, so it’s on my summer bucket list. We’ll probably take a couple different trips there as it’s a short drive from us. Or we’ll be taking the Sprinter Van on weekend trips. I’d love to visit the Port Townsend Glass Beach, Olympic Game Farm, Hurricane Ridge, Salt Creek Recreational Area, Forks, La Push, Forks, Ruby Beach, Tree of Life, Hoh Rain Forest, and Cape Flattery.
Summer Festivals
And of course we’ll be attending lots of summer festivals/events. We try to pack in as many fun family-friendly events as we can each summer. If you’re looking for a list of fun family-friendly things happening this summer, check out the Pierce County List and Kitsap County list here.
We love the:
- Venardos Circus
- Farm Tours
- Outdoor Concerts
- Tide Pool Walks
If you missed our Spring Bucket List, you can check it out here. Of course we’ll be enjoying so many things that were on that list like; foraging, tea parties, picnics, gardening, hiking, bees, preserving foods, fishing, farmers markets, and selling more of our farm items.
Summer time is my absolute favorite time of the year! What are some things you and/or your family love to do during the summer? I’d love to hear it in the comments.
