There’s just something about fall in the Pacific Northwest that makes you want to grab a cozy sweater, order something pumpkin-flavored, and pack the family into the car for a day of autumn fun.
And if you live in Pierce County or the surrounding South Sound, there is SO much happening this time of year! From pumpkin patches and corn mazes to harvest festivals, cider squeezes, trick-or-treating, haunted attractions, family events, and plenty of opportunities to wear those Halloween costumes more than once, you could easily fill every weekend of the season.
Our family loves soaking up as much of fall as we possibly can, so I’ve gathered many of the area’s seasonal happenings into one big Pierce County fall guide to make planning your adventures a little easier.
Whether you’re looking for a classic day at the pumpkin patch, something free to do with the kids, a cozy local fall festival, or something a little spookier after dark, you’ll find plenty of ideas below.

Pumpkin Patches & Corn Mazes

♥Lattin’s Country Cider Mill and Farm – Olympia
Saturdays & Sundays end of September thru end of October; Pumpkin Patch and Family Event with games, rides, animals, vendors and food.
♥Hunter Family Farm – Olympia
There is something for everyone. Tractor rides, corn maze, barn animals, food vendors, fresh produce, ice cream and don’t forget our famous Hunter Farms grilled corn! Dogs are allowed on leashes.
♥Rutledge Corn Maze – Olympia
Get lost in the giant corn maze or hunt through the pumpkin patch for your perfect pumpkin. Daytime Activities include story time with Spookley the Square Pumpkin, corn hole, and swings! They also have ladder ball, a calf roping station, a cow train, and a corn cannon(some activities are weekends only)! When the sun sets Rutledge not only offers the regular corn mazes but a Haunted Corn Maze and a Zombie Paintball adventure too!
♥Pigman’s Produce – Olympia
“We have you pick strawberries and raspberries in the summer and a pumpkin patch in the fall.” Typically the season opens October 1, but be sure to check their website before heading out.
♥Sterino Farms – Puyallup
“Details and dates for our pumpkin patch and corn maze will be coming soon!” – Check out their site.
♥Spooner Farms – Puyallup
During October most of the farm is available for your enjoyment as we celebrate fall the way we love – with fun for the whole family, including our pumpkin patch, corn maze, and more.
♥Picha Farms – Puyallup
Plan on their familiar offerings such as pumpkins, hayride, kiddie trains, food and coffee vendors and our amazing corn maze. Bluegrass Festival events happening on the weekends.
♥Maris Farms – Buckley
Check out their site for what’s available and ticket purchasing. Expanded Play Areas, Pumpkin Patch, Haunted Woods, Light Show. We’ve done Maris Farms’ fall fun in the past and it’s an amazing, this is what it’s like pre-2020.
♥Double R Farms – Puyallup
“During the month of October our farm features a 5 acre corn maze and the largest selection of pumpkins in the valley. Come try your hand at one of three pumpkin slingshots. We even have one just for kids. We offer FREE tractor pulled hay rides on the weekends (weather permitting). In our 80 year old barn you will find decorative gourds, cornstalks, mini pumpkins, and edible squash. We also have live animals for the kids to see. ”
♥Thomasson Family Farm – Enumclaw
Thomasson Farm has u-pick pumpkins, corn maze, kids koral, lazer tag and so much more. Check their website for hours.
♥Turnbull Farm – Lakebay
Small family farm that you can come pick pumpkins at, open weekends on the Key Peninsula! Check their website before heading out to make sure they are open.
♥Harbor Farms – Gig Harbor
Harbor Farms offers a full fall farm experience complete with; pumpkin Patch, Petting Zoo, Western town play area, outdoor games, photo ops, and 90 farm visit. Reservations required, so check ahead before visiting.
♥Artondale Farms – Gig Harbor
Artondale Farms Stand is another excellent stop for locally grown pumpkins, seasonal produce, and fall decorations. Open beginning the first weekend in April and running through Christmas Eve.

Harvest Festivals
→September 12 – Harvest Home at Fort Nisqually – 11am-5pm. Join us for cider pressing with apples harvested from the museum’s very own orchard, crafts for the whole family and samples from our period kitchen! Guests are invited to help decorate the hock cart used for the final harvest of the year and help crown the Harvest King and Queen from the crowd.
→September 19 – Cider Squeeze & Oregon Trail at Meeker Mansion – 10am-3pm. Bring your family and friends and join us at our fun annual Cider Squeeze event.
→September 26 – Fiesta De La Familia – at Fort Steilacoom Park in Lakewood, Noon-6PM. Enjoy food, live entertainment, an art show, and hands-on crafts. See roaming entertainers. Kids will enjoy balloon making, face painting and can participate in a children’s parade. Make sure they wear their best Fiesta attire, traditional clothing or favorite costume.
→October 3 – Scarecrow Festival Sehmel Homestead Park in Gig Harbor – 11am-4pm The annual Scarecrow Festival is a full of free fall fun! Come out and enjoy local vendors, free activities for the kids, inflatables, a pumpkin launcher and more!
→October 3 – Harvest Festival – Dacca Park in Fife, 10am-4pm. This family-friendly event is packed with fun, featuring bounce houses, carnival games, face painting and farm fun with a petting zoo and kids’ tractor maze.
→October 4 – Steilacoom’s Annual Apple Squeeze – in historic downtown Steilacoom, 10am-4pm
→October 24 – All Hallows Eve – Gateway Park(in Gig Harbor), 12-4pm, Free & fun for all. Hay rides, Scare-venger hunt, Popcorn & Cotton Candy, and Games & Prizes!
•September 14, 2025 – Fall Family Blast at Chapel Hill Church – Gig Harbor, 11:30am-1:30pm.
•October 25, 2025 – Harvest Fest at Norpoint – Center at Norpoint in Tacoma, 4pm-8pm, free. Bring the family for harvest-themed fun featuring crafts, treats, carnival games, dancing, a costume contest, and end the evening with Trunk or Treat!
•October 25, 2025 – Harvest Fest at Star Center – Tacoma, Bring the family for harvest-themed fun! From 2-5 pm we’ll have music, carnival games, inflatables, arts and crafts, a selfie station, spooky maze, pumpkin patch and pumpkin decorating. *Activities and giveaways provided while supplies last.
•October 31, 2025 – Harvest Fest at People’s Community Center – Tacoma, Bring the family for safe Halloween-themed holiday fun!
Halloween & Trunk-or-treat Events
→October 17 – 3rd Annual Tacoma Halloween Parade – Located at the Proctor Business District District. FREE – All Ages and All HUMANS Welcome
Costumes, glowing floats, eerie-sistible vendors, food trucks, live entertainment, and spooky surprises await.
→October 17-18 & 24-25 All Hallows Eve at Lakewold Gardens (two weekends) 6-9pm This October, Lakewold Gardens becomes the unsettling laboratory of dreams where Dr. Moreau’s botanical and quirky experiments grow wild. Are those vines moving? Does that creature peer at you from behind the foliage? Dare to discover uncanny chimeras, secret lab spaces, and places where nature becomes unnatural.
→October 19 – Halloween Splash Course Challenge – Slide into spooky season at the pool with the ultimate aquatic obstacle course. Kiddos can race the clock, dodge spooky surprises and try not to fall off as they take on the challenge. Each two-hour flight (starting times: 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.) includes unlimited runs, with new challenges announced every 10-15 minutes in the second hour. A rec swim area will be available during each flight. Buy tickets ($15.50) online.
→October 23 – Monster Mash Bash – PenMet Parks Recreation Center in Gig Harbor 5:30-7pm Our annual Halloween event is a blast! Break out those costumes and bring the kids for a great evening of trick or treating, vendors, games and other fun Halloween-themed activities.
→October 23 & 24 – All Hallows Eve(haunted house) at Meeker Mansion in Puyallup, 6-9pm(23rd) & 4-9pm(24th)
→October 30 – Trick or Treat at Uptown – Gig Harbor, 4-6pm. Join us for a spook-tacular Halloween Trick-or-Treat event! Dress up in your creepiest, funniest, or most creative costumes and hit the Uptown for a night of candy, treats, and ghoulish fun. Don’t forget your bags, and come prepared for a frightfully good time!
→October 31 – LeMay Trunk or Treat – Tacoma, 3-7pm, a community family fun event where kids can enjoy a safe and unique way to trick-or-treat – FREE! Food trucks, Entertainment, Activities, Trunk Decoration, Competition Prize.
→October 31 – Gig Harbor Waterfront Trick or Treat – 3-6pm Bring your little ones to trick or treat at businesses along the downtown waterfront. Harborview will be closed from Pioneer Way to Rosedale.
→October 31 – Boo-Allup in Puyallup – trick or treat downtown Puyallup. 3pm-6pm
→October 31 – Halloween Carnival in Fife – Community Center, 5-7 p.m. for games, crafts, prizes and safe family fun, including a sensory area. Every child will receive a free safety light to take on their trick-or-treating adventures! Admission is free, but a donation of one nonperishable food item per guest for a local food bank would be greatly appreciated.
→October 31 Trick or Treat Scavenger Hunt at Lakewold Gardens – In Lakewood 6-7:30PM, Free Admission
→October 31 Trick or Treat at the Village in Lakebay – 5-7pm. Come Trick-or-Treat at the Mustard Seed Village! The Village is a warm and safe place to spend your Halloween! Go door-to-door inside the assisted living homes and get candy from every apartment!
→November 1 – Dia de Los Muertos at Tacoma’s LeMay – 10am-3pm, Dia de Los Muertos on November 1st for a full day of activities, most of which are included with your Museum ticket!
•October 25, 2025 – Hallourween at OurChurch in University Place – 6-8pm, Free activities included with registration: Carnival Games, Tunnel of Treats, Mickey & Minnie Photo Booth, Trunk or Treat, Cinderella’s pumpkin patch, Balloons by Tacoma Twister, Popcorn, AND MORE! There will be concessions for purchase.
→October 25, 2025 – Dia de los Muertos in Tacoma– Join us for Día de los Muertos Celebration on 6th Ave, to remember the dead + party for the living!
→October 26, 2025 – Family Halloween Party in Puyallup – 2pm-4pm, at Fruitland Grange. Free Community Halloween Party! Bring the kids (in costume or not) to enjoy trick or treating, games and more.

Family Activities

→September 4-27 – Washington State Fair in Puyallup(Closed Tuesdays & Sept. 3)
→September 12 – Tacoma Moon Festival – at the Chinese Reconciliation Park, 1pm-6pm. This free, family-friendly event features food, arts and crafts, community organizations, and performances from Tacoma’s diverse heritage and immigrant communities.
→September 12 – Touch a Truck at Sprinker Park, 10am-1pm, Free family-friendly event where the young and young at heart love to climb, run around, sit in, and even honk the horns of trucks and large vehicles seen throughout the county.
→September 17 & October 27 – Free Entrance Days in the National Parks
→Annual Korean ChuSeok Festival – September 19, 11am-4pm Asia Pacific Cultural Center in Tacoma. AND September 26, 11am-4pm Skansie Brothers Park in Gig Harbor. Get ready to immerse yourself in the rich traditions of Korea at the 10th Annual Korean Chuseok Festival hosted by the Asia Pacific Cultural Center. Free family friendly event.
→September 26-27 – Key Peninsula Farm Tour – Key Peninsula Farm Tour & Harvest Festival offers a yearly farm tour and harvest festival event on the Key Peninsula in Washington. Visitors tour local farms, craftsmen workshops, and harvest events.
→October 1- October 31 – The ‘Scarecrows & Skeletons of Fircrest’ Display Contest– Drive around the town of Fircrest and look at all the scarecrows in the yards/porches.
→October 2 & 3 – Candlelight Tour – at Fort Nisqually Living History Museum, 6-10pm. Campfires and candlelight provide illumination for this outdoor evening walking tour of Fort Nisqually Living History Museum. Guests eavesdrop as more than a hundred Fort Nisqually Historical interpreters bring to life the men, women, and children of the Hudson’s Bay Company in the year 1857. *Advance ticket purchase is required for this popular event! Tickets on sale soon.
→October 3 – Children’s Day in Lacey – 11am-2pm, Huntamer Park. Get read to celebrate the magic of mythical creatures! Games, crafts, inflatables, entertainment, and more magical activities!
→October 3 & 4 – Pumpkin Chomp & Stomp at NW Trek – 9:30AM-3:00PM. Watch our animals eat, stomp, chomp and play with pumpkins. *Free with admission and membership.
→October 9 – Oktoberfest in University Place – in Market Square, 4:30-9pm. Bring your family and friends for an evening of food, music, and community fun! Enjoy live performances, tasty treats from local food vendors and family-friendly activities. Kids can explore games and attractions inside the Civic Building atrium, meet costumed characters, and enjoy strolling performers throughout the event.
→October 9-11 – Oktoberfest Northwest– at the Washington State Fair. Enjoy traditional Oktoberfest music and dance, authentic German food, a large variety of German bier poured in steins, and more.
→October 9-11 – Tacoma Greek Festival– St. Nicholas’ Church in Tacoma. Look for the best Greek Festival ever! As always, all pastries are prepared hand made right here at the St. Nicholas kitchen.
→October 10 – McKinley Hill Haunted Street Fair – 2-8pm The McKinley Hill Haunted Street Fair is a free, family-friendly Halloween celebration taking place in the heart of Tacoma’s historic McKinley Hill District. The event transforms McKinley Avenue into a vibrant, spooky festival filled with local artisans, food vendors, live music, kids’ activities, and community fun.
→October 10 & 11 – Founders Day at Pioneer Farm– 11-5:30pm. Pioneer Farm and Indian Village Tours, Wagon Rides, Make a Candle, music, food, games for the entire family. All day pass $20, children 2 and under free.
→October 13 – Park Pop-Ups: Monster Mash – Meridian Habitat Park, 11am-1pm
Join a Monster Mash Halloween-themed afternoon filled with games, crafts, music, and a bubbling witch’s brew punch. Costumes are encouraged!
→October 16-17 & 23-24 – Hoot n Howl at NW Trek– 5-9pm(two weekends) Put on a costume and come explore the park at twilight! Walk our animal paths decorated with spooky lights and search for our 8 trick-or-treat stations. Listen for nighttime animal noises. And climb like a spider, swoop like a bat and do Freaky Food Science in our Kids’ Trek play area, specially lit up for the event.
→October 17 – AfterLife 5K – 9:30 Start Time, Nathan Chapman Memorial Trail & Heritage Recreation Center. Step into the Afterlife this Halloween at this fun, festive Afterlife 5K run/walk where the past lives on! At the finish line, choose a medal from races gone by—each one with its own story. Costumes encouraged, spooky vibes guaranteed, and everyone leaves with a medal brought back from the grave. Registration required.
→October 17 – Lakewood Truck & Tractor Day – Noon- 3PM, Fort Steilacoom Park. Enjoy pumpkin decorating, crafts, games, and a giant slingshot for pumpkin chucking! Children can climb on dozens of giant trucks and tractors and sit in the driver’s seat & honk the horn. Children also receive free hayrides, hard hats, and pumpkins (1 per family while supplies last).
→October 17 & 18 – Point Defiance Zoo Boo – 9:00am-3:00pm! Costumes, animals, candy and more fun! Free with admission and membership.
→October 19-30 – Chambers Critter Crawl – University Place, Chambers Creek Regional Park! Families are invited to help the critters find the missing items by following clues in order to complete their scavenger hunt sheets! Once you’ve completed the hunt, turn in your scavenger hunt card at the front desk in the ESB at Chambers Creek Regional Park between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday to receive a themed prize.
→October 24 – Gig Harbor Witches Brew – Starting at 2pm. Grab your broomsticks and join us for the 4th annual Gig Harbor Witches Brew! Whether you’re a budding witch or full blown Sanderson sister, this event is perfect for all skill levels. So, gather your fellow wizards and witches, and let’s hit the water. •October 17, 2025 – Lantern Tour of Fort Steilacoom Park – Come experience Fort Steilacoom as you never have before and learn about the history that continues to linger here in the dark. 8pm, purchase tickets here.
Haunted Attractions & Ghost Tours
→September 26-November 1 (Saturdays & Sundays) – Booville Family-Friendly Fun at Wild Waves Booville is our kid-friendly Halloween zone filled with not-so-scary fun! Little ones can enjoy trick-or-treating, festive activities, meet-and-greets, and playful fall surprises in a bright, cheerful Halloween setting perfect for families. LAST SEASON!
→October 2 – November 1 (Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays) – Fright Fest at Wild Waves – Fright Fest is Wild Waves’ signature Halloween celebration, transforming the park into a thrilling world of haunted houses, scare zones, eerie entertainment, and nighttime rides. From spine-chilling scares to festive fun, it’s the ultimate Halloween experience for brave guests looking for a fright-filled night out. LAST SEASON!
→September 26-October 31 – Haunted Forest at Grand Farms on the Key Peninsula – Vaughn, WA Step into a realm of a powerful Queen, epic battles, mysterious portals, and dark sorcery. Eight years in the making, set deep in the woods of Vaughn, Washington — the forest remembers everyone who enters.
Do you have younger kids or some timid adventures in your party? Join during Twilight hour (6pm-7pm) for our mild scare hour.
→October 1-31 – Fright House Station– is Tacoma’s ultimate haunted house, located at Freighthouse Square near the Tacoma Dome. It is located in a nearly-15,000 sq. ft. concrete basement, once used to store corpses during World War II(Not a joke!).
→October 15 – Haunted Trails of Fircrest – Thelma Gilmure Park
→October 23-25 – Washington State Horror Con – At the Washington State Fair in Puyallup. Summer Con’s version of a horror convention with amazing guests, exhibits, vendors, artists, panels, film presentations, and so much more.

Fall always seems to fly by way too fast, so make the most of it while it’s here! Whether your perfect autumn day includes wandering through a pumpkin patch, getting lost in a corn maze, sipping hot cider at a local festival, trick-or-treating with the kids, or braving a haunted attraction after dark, Pierce County has plenty of ways to celebrate the season.
And remember—you don’t have to do everything on this list. Pick a few favorites, bundle up, bring the rain boots (because Washington!), and enjoy making some fall memories together.
