APPLE PIE RECIPE

This apple pie recipe is a favorite in our house, it’s easy and delicious.

It’s perfect for a crisp evening in fall or a cold evening in the winter. It makes a great dessert anytime of the year.

Eat plain, add a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Use a homemade crust or a premade pie crust works just as great.

We are huge fans of sweets in our house, they are just so good and making/baking them just add to the goodness.

APPLE PIE INGREDIENTS & SUBSTITUTIONS

  • Apples
  • White Sugar – I’ve used both granulated sugar and cane sugar, both come out great
  • Corn Starch
  • Apple Pie Spice
  • Lemon Juice
  • Butter
  • Pie Crust(double) – Homemade or store bought pie crust

Do I have to use corn starch? You can substitute the corn starch for all-purpose flour, the pie just comes out a tad bit more runny but still taste amazing.

Can I make these vegan? Yes, use a vegan butter. And find a vegan pie crust recipe or look for Pillsbury Pet-Ritz Frozen Deep Dish pie crust.

Can I made these gluten free? Yes, just make or buy a premade gluten free pie crust.

What apple to use? We’ve made pie with just about every apple variety and even with a few different in one pie. The only apple NOT to use is Red Delicious, you’ll get a mushy and flavorless pie.
