Fourth of July will look very different this year, but hopefully we can all celebrate one way or another. With many firework shows and festivals being cancelled or postponed, even home parties because of social distancing regulations. That doesn’t mean we can’t still celebrate the day!
We’ll be doing what we normally do minus going to Steilacoom’s 4th of July parade; making delicious foods, relaxing at home and letting off a few legal fireworks. A perfect day! Just remember you don’t need a huge extravaganza, this year has proven to be “different”, so just go with the flow and enjoy yourself. While still being safe, of course!
If you’d still like to get out and do something festive, there is stuff happening, just be sure to get your advanced tickets. If I hear of anything else I’ll be sure to update the list below.
Where to watch fireworks locally?
Firecracker Alley Annual Fireworks Show – Details to be announced at a later date. Their fireworks stand is now open for business, if you’re looking for any to purchase.
Tacoma Rainiers Cheney Stadium presents July 3rd Extravaganza – We’re pulling out all the stops for our biggest game of the year, Tacoma. Join us as we kick off the Independence Day celebrations early with our extravagant July 3rd Fireworks show. Game-worn jerseys will be auctioned off at our table on the concourse during the contest. Stop by to submit your bid before the end of the game.
Puyallup’s Red, White & Kaboom Drive-In Fireworks Celebration – Brought to you by the Puyallup / Sumner Chamber of Commerce and Bill Korum’s Puyallup Nissan, the fun happens at the Blue lot at the Washington State Fairgrounds. Decorate your car (win prizes), enjoy streamed live music, prize drawings, food trucks, and a walking map to local dining. The evening will culminate with a spectacular Fireworks Display brought to you by MultiCare.
To gain entry to the Blue VIP lot, you must purchase your $20 vehicle pass in advance ($20 early bird rate available through July 3 or until sold out). Gates open at 5:00pm (all vehicles must enter by 7:30pm) and the first 1,000 guests will receive a U.S. Flag Bandanna which can be worn in a variety of ways, such as a neck gaiter or facial covering. There is an optional Family Fun Bucket ($10) with goodies for guests of all ages. Safety protocols, modeled after our state’s Phase 2 Guidance for Drive-In Theaters, will be in place, including vehicle distancing, spacing at portable restrooms & food trucks, and facial coverings strongly encouraged in places where physical distancing is difficult (according to CDC recommendations).
