Attending A Tea Party
We recently got dressed up, and attended a tea party! I absolutely love going to tea parties; they’re fun, usually quiet, everyone dresses up and feels special. Not to mention drinking tea, and the delicious foods.
The tea party we attended was held at the local community center, Key Peninsula Civic Center. It’s our second year attending, and a favorite of ours.

Have you ever been to a tea party?
I’ve been to my share of tea parties in my lifetime. As a young girl, my friends and I had a few tea parties in our days. Most of the time we’d have our American Girls dolls with us, fun fact, I still have the original Kirsten doll & items.
A few years back, I gave my niece an experience Christmas gift, and took her to the Olive Branch Café. Which is a café, and tea room. Such a fun, and unique place.
Then the past two years we’ve attended the tea party at the community center, and looking forward to next years. We’ve had such a great time at the Key Pen Parks Tea Parties; they’re family-friendly, great service, decorated well, and don’t cost a fortune.
What do you have at a tea party?
Tea parties include tea(of course), most have a variety of teas to choose from, and usually something a child will like(chocolate, berry are kids favs). Tea parties also serve finger type foods; variety of sandwiches, fruits, vegetables. And of course our favorite; a tier of desserts, cakes, scones.
The food at the Key Pen Parks Tea Party this past weekend was so delicious, I’m still dreaming about those lemon meringue tarts!
These chicken curry sandwiches, and coconut shortbread cookies would make excellent foods for a tea party.
Attending a tea party.
Attending a tea party is such a fun experience for all. It gives you a chance to dress up, practice your etiquette, and manners. Enjoy some tea, and foods!
If you’re looking to attend a tea party; look for a tea room near you, or check if your local community center hosts any events.
If you’re near me, Pierce or Kitsap county here’s a few places I know of:
- Olive Branch Café, Tacoma
- Bainbridge Apothecary and Tea Shop, Bainbridge Island
- The Pink Chandelier, Puyallup
- British Bites, Puyallup
- Secret Garden Tea Room & Gift, Sumner
- Key Pen Parks annual tea party, Key Peninsula(near Gig Harbor), in spring
- Mommy & Me Tea Party, Tacoma, in summer
Most importantly. If you cant find one, create one. Head to your local thrift shop, purchase some tea cups, and plates. The less they match, the better! Here’s also a cute set of tea cups, and saucers. And a beautiful 3 tier stand on sale for only $23.99. Buy a sampler pack of tea bags, make some sandwiches, and head to the store for a variety of desserts. Have everyone dress in their Sunday best, and practice your etiquette, and manners.
One of my goals for my food forest is to have a little area where I can go for tea, and have little tea parties. Surrounded by the garden, and fruit trees. Sounds perfect!
