Tips for attending movies in the park – also a list of tacoma dates
The movies in the park is our favorite activity each summer. This year will be a little different since we’ll have a brand new little one with us so either she’ll stay home with Dad or we’ll be bringing chairs to sit in so it’s more comfortable.
These are FREE events that the whole family will love! Movies start at dusk, but some have activities before hand so check with your area. We’ve been going to them for the past couple years and I’ve learned a few things. Check out my tips below;
1. Arrive early for a great spot. The newer, more popular movies tend to get very full. Throw your stuff down and let the kids run freely, usually there is a playground near by.
2. Bring all your own snacks; think movie theater snacks popcorn, drinks, candy. And/or bring a picnic dinner, I’ve seen a families eating Chinese takeout, KFC meal. Just make sure you clean up.
3. Bring stuff to lay or sit on; blankets, pillows and/or lawn chairs. Be comfortable and once the sun goes down it does get chilly. Long pants, sweatshirts are also good ideas. If bringing young kids, I suggest putting them in pj’s ahead of time and be prepared for them to fall asleep ;)
4. Bring a flashlight; at the end they will most likely turn the park lights back on but if for any chance you need to leave early you’ll need that light to walk through the crowd, park, and collect all your stuff.
Enjoy! These are great events for children and adults alike, there is just something about laying/sitting out in the nature under the stars while watching a movie. And try to make it to more than one ’cause chances are your children will be begging you to take them to another show and they only happen during the summer!
