2026 Holiday Assistance in Pierce & Kitsap County: Christmas Gifts, Thanksgiving Meals & Food Help
The holidays are supposed to be a joyful time, but when money is tight, they can also bring a tremendous amount of stress.
Between buying Christmas gifts, putting a holiday dinner on the table, keeping the house warm, and simply paying everyday bills, November and December can become overwhelming very quickly.
If your family could use a little extra help this holiday season, please don’t be afraid to reach out.
There are organizations throughout Pierce County and Kitsap County, Washington, offering holiday assistance to local families, children, teens, seniors, and individuals. Programs may include Christmas gifts, Thanksgiving food baskets, free holiday meals, grocery assistance, clothing, and other seasonal support.
I’ve put together this guide to make those resources easier to find in one place.

2026 UPDATE: Many organizations don’t announce their Thanksgiving and Christmas programs until October or November. If you see a program marked 2026 information coming soon, it means I’m waiting for this year’s details rather than assuming last year’s dates still apply.
Where to Start if You Need Holiday Help
Before getting into individual programs, there are a few places I recommend checking first.
Your child’s school: Contact the school counselor, family resource coordinator, or front office. Schools often know about programs that aren’t widely advertised and may have partnerships specifically for families in their district.
Your local food bank: Many food banks offer additional groceries, turkeys, holiday baskets, or special distributions around Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Local churches and community organizations: Even if you aren’t a member, it’s worth asking whether they have a holiday meal, giving tree, food basket, or family adoption program.
And apply early whenever possible. Some Christmas assistance programs have limited spaces and may close registration once they’ve reached capacity.
Christmas Gift Assistance in Pierce & Kitsap County
USPS Operation Santa
The USPS Operation Santa program allows children and families to send letters to Santa that may be adopted by individuals who want to fulfill holiday wishes.
This is a national program and can be a wonderful resource for families needing help with Christmas gifts.
2026 registration and mailing dates: Begins September 14!
Toys for Tots
Toys for Tots provides Christmas toys to children in communities across the country, with local campaigns serving both Pierce and Kitsap County.
Eligibility, children’s ages, registration procedures, and deadlines can vary between the local campaigns.
2026 information: Local registration details are typically announced closer to the holiday season.
Toy Rescue Mission — Pierce County
Toy Rescue Mission has been a longtime Tacoma-area resource providing toys and gifts to qualifying children and families.
Their requirements and registration information can change from year to year, so check directly with the organization before applying.

Salvation Army Angel Tree
The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program helps provide Christmas gifts for children whose families may otherwise struggle to purchase presents.
Local availability, eligibility, registration dates, and participating locations vary.
Pierce County families can check with the Tacoma and Puyallup-area Salvation Army programs, while Kitsap families can check with the Bremerton Corps.
Apply early. These programs can fill quickly.
Families Unlimited Network — University Place
Families Unlimited Network serves families within the University Place community and has previously offered holiday assistance through its Community Christmas program.
Families with school-age children should start by contacting their school counselor. Families with children who aren’t yet school age can contact the organization to ask about eligibility.

Gig Harbor Peninsula FISH
Gig Harbor Peninsula FISH serves qualifying families within its service area and has offered a Holiday Toy Program for children and teens.
Some eligible ZIP codes may include portions of South Kitsap, so it’s worth checking their current service-area requirements.

Puyallup St. Francis House
St. Francis House provides assistance to families throughout the year and has traditionally offered a Christmas and Holiday Gift Giving program.
Because registration can begin well before December, don’t wait until Christmas week to check.
Fishline Holiday Assistance — North Kitsap
Fishline serves the North Kitsap community and has offered special holiday assistance for qualifying families.
In recent years, its children’s holiday program has provided families with Holiday Bucks that can be used with participating local businesses rather than distributing traditional preselected gifts.
2026 dates and eligibility: Check with Fishline as the holidays approach, sign ups begin late fall.
New Day Ministry — Kitsap County
New Day Ministry in Bremerton has previously hosted both Thanksgiving food-box and Christmas toy distributions.
2026 registration open now.
The Coffee Oasis — Pierce & Kitsap County
The Coffee Oasis serves youth and young adults in several South Sound communities, including locations in Bremerton, Port Orchard, Poulsbo, and Tacoma.
In 2025, its holiday programming included free Christmas dinners, activities, and gifts for ages 13–25, making this an especially important resource for teens and young adults who may age out of other Christmas toy programs.

Christmas Angel Program — Kitsap County
The Christmas Angel Program aims to provide holiday gifts for low-income families in Kitsap County. Families receive a few gifts and clothing per child as available.

Thanksgiving Food & Meal Assistance
If you’re worried about putting Thanksgiving dinner on the table, start checking programs early in November—or even October.
Many local food banks provide additional holiday food, while other organizations host free community dinners.
Bremerton Foodline
Bremerton Foodline serves households within the Bremerton School District and provides additional food around major holidays through its regular food-bank services. Holiday dates are generally announced closer to the distribution.
Central Kitsap Food Bank
Central Kitsap Food Bank has traditionally offered Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday baskets, with signup and pickup periods announced in early fall.
If you’re in Kitsap County and need holiday groceries, this is one I would check early.
South Kitsap Helpline Food Bank
South Kitsap Helpline is an important year-round resource for families needing groceries in the Port Orchard and South Kitsap area.
Holiday distributions and additional seasonal assistance are generally announced closer to Thanksgiving and Christmas.

St. Vincent de Paul Bremerton
The St. Vincent de Paul Bremerton Neighborhood Market has offered special holiday groceries during both Thanksgiving and Christmas.
In 2025, holiday groceries were available during designated November and December dates without a separate holiday signup.

Helpline House — Bainbridge Island
Helpline House provides food and other assistance to Bainbridge Island residents and has offered additional Thanksgiving food and grocery support during the holiday season.

Tacoma Rescue Mission
Tacoma Rescue Mission provides meals and services throughout the year and has offered special Thanksgiving and Christmas meals.
Check directly with the Mission as the holidays approach for current meal times and locations.
Families Unlimited Network — University Place
Families Unlimited Network serves families within the University Place community and has previously offered holiday assistance through its Community Christmas program.

TibbitsFernHill — Tacoma
TibbitsFernHill usually host a free hot meal for folks going thru a rough patch.

Free Christmas Meals & Christmas Food Assistance
Christmas meal information tends to be announced much later than Christmas gift programs, so don’t panic if this section isn’t completely filled in during September or October.
Check back throughout November and December.
Some of the best places to contact include local food banks, Salvation Army locations, churches, Tacoma Rescue Mission, school family-resource programs, and community organizations.
I’ll add specific 2026 Christmas dinner locations and dates here as they’re announced.

St. Francis House provides assistance to families throughout the year and has traditionally offered a Christmas and Holiday Gift Giving program.

Harvest House in graham
Harvest House provides Holiday dinner boxes each year for designated families. These boxes are made to order for each individual family and their needs, coming fulling loaded with all the fixing for a full Holiday dinner.
Contact Harvest House and/or your child’s school to see if you qualify.
Don’t Forget Local Buy Nothing & Community Groups
Local community groups can be incredibly helpful during the holidays.
Buy Nothing groups and neighborhood giving groups often have people offering toys their children have outgrown, winter clothing, Christmas decorations, food, household necessities, and sometimes even entire holiday meals.
You can also make an ISO (In Search Of) post if your group’s rules allow it.
There’s absolutely nothing wrong with giving a gently loved toy another Christmas.
In fact, I wish we did more of it.
Need Help? Apply Early
One thing I’ve learned from maintaining this resource is that holiday assistance doesn’t always begin in December.
Some Christmas programs start taking applications in October, and popular programs can reach capacity quickly.
If you think your family may need assistance this year, start looking early—even if Christmas still feels far away.
And if one program is full, keep trying.
Eligibility varies from one organization to another, and there may be smaller programs available through schools, churches, fire departments, food banks, and neighborhood organizations.

You may be able to adopt a child or family, purchase toys, donate grocery gift cards, give winter clothing, donate food, volunteer at a holiday distribution, or simply share information about available resources.
Even a small contribution can make someone’s holiday a little easier.

I’m looking for some help this year. This is our 3rd year that we have had zero presents under the tree. We’re are older. We’re not eligible for hardly any help but we’ve been struggling just to pay the monthly bills. I’m now disabled but not eligible for disability. & on top of that my wallet wtas stolen with gift cards to the grocery store.
I thank the lord for our local bank or we wouldn’t have anything to eat from week to week.
I get frustrated when seeking assistance because we fall right into the cusp of eligibility. I just thought it would be nice to have a gift under are tree this year. Bonney lake seems to not have a whole lot to offer. Please can you help?
