July 2025 On The Homestead
July was one of the hardest months of my life, it was a rough start right from the beginning with the passing of my Mother. I’ll talk more about it below in the section “Life & What I’m Loving”. Each day is getting a little easier though, and here’s the recap of July 2025 on the homestead below.

FYI these homestead recaps tend to be photo heavy, and may contain affiliate links.
CLEAN UP & PROJECTS
No projects were completed this month, I barely had any energy or motivation to even keep the house clean.
IN THE GARDEN
The garden is growing wonderfully, thankfully it’s been able to thrive without me being very attentive this summer.

Our raspberries produced pounds of delicious berries for us this year, so much that I couldn’t even keep up towards the end. We ate a bunch fresh and froze most for later use.

We harvested our onions, although most didn’t get very big, they still look tasty. I’ll work on the soil next year for bigger bulbs. I’ve also been picking/drying lots of calendula for the year. I use the petals for tea, sprinkles, and skin care products.
All the perennial plants in the garden, and food forest are thriving! The squash is also growing strong. A few spaghetti squash, two Jack O’ Lantern pumpkins, one honeynut squash, and a few zucchini. I started a ton of seed variety this past spring, sadly none of the acorn, butternut, yellow summer, delicata, or sugar pumpkins survived.
animals on the homestead
We’ve had many visits from the neighborhood barred owls, thankfully they haven’t gotten any of our animals. I love watching and hearing them though.
I haven’t been able to be the best beekeeper lately, doing the bare minimum and letting them bee. And hope for the best! I added a honey super and they seem to be filling it up well. I started prepping them for winter, bought a quilt box for moisture and just started giving them sugar water.

The chicks are all growing well, the one that we(or Mama Coco) hatched turned out to be a boy. They’ve been living in the same area with the other chickens for the past couple weeks, and it’s been going very well.
in the kitchen

We’ve made lots of delicious foods this past month. Lots of salad bowls, Mediterranean style bowls, kimchi fried rice, and avocado toast.

We also made my Mom’s Chicken Enchiladas one night, it’s always a favorite!
life & what i’m loving
The first week of July was very tough, my Mom passed away unexpectedly from cancer. There’s been a lot of emotions this past month. It’s been pretty difficult, so we’re trying to focus on the present.

Like I said, the beginning of the month was EXTREMELY tough. The first week literally felt like a daze, or I was living in a bad dream. Mom went into the hospital June 29, we found out she had cancer June 30, it was my sister’s birthday July 1, and then my Mom passed away July 3. Then for the kids sake we “celebrated” the best we could, the 4th of July. AND then my youngest(Piper’s birthday) is July 5th!
We did some fireworks, and enjoyed the sunset at the beach.

Got our nails done for her birthday too! It was very nice. Love my Teva flip flops(less than $25)
We celebrated my youngest turning 8 the best we could. It’s become a tradition to do Old Spaghetti Factor for the kids birthday. And unfortunately party plans were canceled, as I just couldn’t handle it mentally, emotionally and physically.

We drove over to Sequim, and visited the Olympic Game Farm. It was my daughters first time, and we had a blast. The elk were definitely a little scary, and I did not like how small the tigers and wolves cages were though. It was fun to take a road trip, clear my head, and just enjoy some laughs.

Mount Rainier in the distance
We’ve also squeezed in a few beach trips, walks to clear my head, library hosted crafts, and afternoon hammock naps.
Trying to make the summer still enjoyable for the kids, while also grieving has been something else. But I’m coping.
I’ve been getting a monthly Ipsy BoxyCharm for the past couple months, and I’ve found some amazing products that I love right now. Next month I’ll take a picture of my August box and have more of a recap.
- I’m LOVING the Glow Recipe brand right now, especially the Hue Drops Tinted Face Serum and Pomegranate Copper Peptides Face Serum.
- I love this Airplane Mode Eau de Perfume, and the best part it’s ONLY $23
- The KORRES Greek Yoghurt Probiotic Gel Face Cream makes my skin feel amazing!
- Origins Ginzing Brightening Eye Cream has been great with my dark circles lately.

Hope you had a good July, and enjoying the end of summer! I’ll be back in a couple weeks for an August recap.
