Homemade Rice Krispies Treats are always a favorite! They’re sweet, crunchy and buttery, yum!! They remind me of eating them as a kid. As long as you have enough butter they are easy to make with no baking. Rice Krispies Treats can also be made unique for any holiday with a sprinkle of some toppings. We wanted to make the treats for Halloween but I didn’t want all the topping to just be candy. We also wanted them to look gross and different so we decided to make them look like body parts, because we’ve seen the candy corn ones, the mummy ones, and ninja turtle ones. So, check out the gross Halloween inspired Rice Krispies Treats we created below and next time you’re at the store pick up the ingredients to make your own. My son said they were almost too gross to eat!
To Make Gross Halloween Rice Krispies Treats:
Coat a 13×9 inch pan with cooking spray, be sure to spray it all and set aside. In a large sauce pan melt your butter over low heat.
After butter is melted, add your marshmallows and stir until melted. Remove the pan from heat.
Stir in your cereal until coated.
Using a buttered spatula press evenly into your pan and immediately press your toppings into the rice krispies. For our toppings we used dried coconut flakes, dried papaya, eye balls and whoppers. Let cool completely and serve the same day for freshness. Best if eaten within two days just store at room temperature in an airtight container. Hope you enjoy them as much as my family does!
