The rainy season has arrived here in the Pacific Northwest, which means endless hours indoors. A great activity to pass the time is curling up in a blanket and escaping into a good book.
I’ve always loved the back stories of villains, because in life there are always two sides to a story and we aren’t born evil. Maleficent was one of those villain back stories I loved, the movie was very well made and you saw the “other side” of the story. Last night I started reading the book Heart of the Moors which takes place between the two films Maleficent and Malificent: Misstress of Evil but is an original story and not a movie tie-in.
Heart of the Moors is a book by New York Times bestselling author Holly Black. The original novel is set between Disney’s Maleficent and Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, in which newly-queened Aurora struggles to be the best leader to both the humans and Fair Folk under her reign; her beau, Prince Phillip, longs to get to know Aurora and her kingdom better; and Maleficent has trouble letting go of the past.

I’d be lying if I said my family and I are huge readers though! The book has to be an engaging read, it has to suck us in otherwise our attention is lost within the first chapter.
Heart of the Moors is an easy read and very engaging. Holly Black does an amazing job keeping the reader engaged. And the cover art is beautiful! The book’s recommended for ages is 8-12, but I’d recommend it for anyone who wants a good read! Below you have a chance to win your own copy of Heart of the Moors and a shirt!
