Did you know May is Mental Health Awareness month? Mental Health is near and dear to me, we live with it everyday. I frequently talk about being a parent to a child with mental illness, the ins and outs of living with it. It’s a subject that should be coming out of everyone’s mouths, it’s all around us.
“Each year, National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day (May 9) seeks to raise awareness about the importance of children’s mental health and show that positive mental health is essential to a child’s healthy development.”
I’m trying to raise my son to understand that there’s nothing to be ashamed for having a mental illness, it’s something that shouldn’t be hidden, it should be talked about. If he ever needs help, don’t be afraid to ask for it or get it. Everyone is going through some struggle in life, nobody’s life is perfect!
