Downtown Tacoma – a day with kids! (itinerary)
Have a day to spend in Downtown Tacoma with the kids? And don’t know what to do with them? I’ve come up with an itinerary just in case you are like me and unless you have it planned when it comes down to last minute you can’t think of what to do. Spontaneous, nope not me! So, anyway here is a fun day planned for you and that shouldn’t cost you too much.
Start your day at the famous 10 Things I Hate About You location, Stadium High School! Beautiful building with wonderful photo opportunities and not to mention a great work out just going up and down the steps to the field or bring their bikes/scooters, plenty of riding area and not a bad view for you ;) The kids will love it!
After you and the kids are done burning a little energy off walk up a block (leave your car where it’s parked) and grab a bite to eat at Shake Shake Shake; great food, amazing shakes, and very kid friendly diner.
If your child can make the walk or if you need to drive up a couple streets(which is totally understandable) Wrights Park is beautiful; trails, pond with turtles ducks and fish, a botanical garden, basketball courts, and the kids favorite part a playground and spraypark. Just a warning(if you’re paranoid like me), this park attracts homeless and crime in the evening so make sure you and your children are aware of the surroundings.
And to top off your day, head North up 6th ave and stop at either Legendary Donuts or Ice Cream Social or both! Legendary Donuts are so good, better than Top Pot and VooDoo! Or check out the new-ish Ice Cream Social AMAZING homemade, local, all natural ingredients. The ice cream is so good, we tried the mint and the lemon raspberry and it had fresh raspberries and lemon zest!! Have you been? What’s your favorite flavor?
Hope your day is amazing!! I would love to hear about your trip, please leave me a comment. Or if you have a favorite activity to do around the Stadium District that you’d love to share?
