Dave & Buster's Auburn WA

Dave & Buster’s hosted a VIP Event the night before opening and I was able to have a fun girls night. We had such an amazing time and were really treated like VIP’s. We started the evening off with a delicious plate of foods everything from steak to pot stickers, all the Dave & Buster’s staff were wonderful. The desserts were great! Large selection of games, something for everyone; The Walking Dead, Ghostbuster’s, a huge claw machine, Star Wars, air hockey and so many more.

Nice bar area and lots of huge screens throughout to watch sport games on! Good selection of prizes. Thinking of bringing the family? Dave & Buster’s isn’t just for adults, kids are welcome with an adult over 25 years old and limited to 5 kids per adult. I was very happy to see they had a family bathroom, I know this is very important to families so good job Dave & Buster’s!!

The place is noisy and lights flashing so keep that in mind for people with sensitivity issues.

Get the most out of your trip to Great Wolf Lodge

Great Wolf Lodge is a family favorite; traveling to one location that has many different activities under one roof and a lot of locations just a short drive away. We’ve been a couple times and each time we’ve found something new to enjoy. Like any vacation you learn something new and ways to make the most of your trip. I would love to share what I’ve learned over the years, maybe it’ll help your family.

Watch for deals – save a little $$

Because yes, a night at GWL can be very costly when you’re paying full price. But if you aren’t able to find any deals, keep in mind you are paying for a hotel stay AND water park admission for all in your party, among any of the other free activities.
Get on Great Wolf Lodges newsletter to find out when they are having deals.
Groupon and Living Social have deals a couple times a year, so watch for those. I’ve recently seen a deal at our local one for $159 for a family suite for 6 people.

Length of stay

If it’s in your budget I’d say to get the most out of the place book two nights. There is just so much to do in only one night. Although if it’s not in your budget to swing two nights, you will have plenty of fun and still be able to do a lot. We’ve never stayed two nights but I do feel rushed and we never get to experience more than half of the stuff there. Check in is around 3:00pm and you are allowed to stay the entire next day playing at GWL, you just have to check out of your room at 11:00.

Age friendly?

All ages; there is something for everyone to do. The water park is suitable for everyone, not to mention all the rest of the attractions. If naptime is still on the agenda it is a short walk to your room to rest.

Bring your own food & drinks

This is a big one; not only will it save you money, everyone gets to eat what they like and you get a moment of clarity while you enjoy your food. Each room is equipped with a mini fridge and microwave, you can haul in your own cooler if the fridge isn’t big enough. Bring plenty of snacks for those tired moments, you can also rent a locker down at the pool to store some water and snacks. Located in our GWL(Grand Mound, WA) is a Starbucks, small little store with snacks/drinks, a few restaurants which we’ve tried a couple and in our opinion weren’t very good (and costly). So, we usually will bring our own meals to make/put together or order from the local Figaro’s Pizza which is both good and reasonably priced.

Tips for the water park

+ If you’re looking for less crowds opt to visit during the off season(no holidays, school breaks, weekends), or swim first thing in the morning and around dinner time until closing
+ Lifejackets are available first come first serve, so plan to arrive early if your child needs one or bring one from home
+ Arrive early and place a towel or something to reserve a chair and/or table
+ Bring water shoes if you don’t like to walk around barefoot
+ Bring a small bag with a light change of clothes, suits and snacks/water if your room isn’t ready and/or you plan on staying the next day after check out time
+ Towels are provided at the water park, but they need to stay at the water park

Different activities besides the Water park

Our location Grand Mound, WA has MANY different activities, so make a list of your top activities you want to do. Chances are you won’t be able to do everything!
* Not Included, cost extra

*MagiQuest & ShadowQuest & CompassQuest (Mason’s favorite but can take up the WHOLE time you are there)

*Ropes Course
*Great Forrest Challenge
*Kids Spa
*Cabana Rentals & Adult beverages at the water park! Like I said all ages 🙂
*SPA

Skiathos Greece is where you should be vacationing!

Skiathos Greece is where you should be vacationing!

There’s this little known place that some are worried about traveling to, so much history and beauty here. Greece! Many have “seen” this place on a couple scenes from Mama Mia! Skiathos Greece! We had the pleasure of vacationing here back in Summer 2013 and boy do I miss it. – I did share photos from our trip back in 2013 but sadly looking back at the posts, none of the pictures are showing up?! 🙁 I’m here to share some of those photos again and why you should add Skiathos to your travel bucket list.

First the island is very beautiful, big tourism area, a lot of people speak English, both affordable and more fancier places to eat and shop, easy to get around the island, isn’t too big, arrive by ferry or plane, very friendly tourists, residents and staff, lots of beaches, tons to do outdoors and so much more. If I could afford to vacation there each summer, I very much would!! We went the middle of June and it was perfect timing, the rainy season had literally ended the day before we arrived, the weather was perfect and the day we were leaving was the peak of tourism season. The island is a celebrity favorite vacation spot, while we were on vacation; the Prime Minister of Qadar yacht was anchored at the island, which we got to see. And just so happens Goldie Hawn, Kurt Russell and Kate Hudson were there at the same time also, and vacation there every single year.

Facts, Fun and Advice:

•Getting to the island. I strongly suggest flying to Athens and then taking another plane over to Skiathos airport. Will save you time and end up being the same price as to drive/ferry, and the headache unless you speak perfect Greek and your gps works.
•Getting around the island. No need to rent a car. Rent an ATV, that is what most people will be doing. It’s pretty cheap. Makes it easy to get around the town, around the island and beaches. You will find dirt roads, some still bricks, and the ATV is just so much easier to get around. There is also taxis and WATER taxis, water taxis were pretty cheap and an awesome way to travel too. Tip; while driving, it is curiosity slower drivers drive on the shoulder but it’s not as scary as some say it is. Only thing, watch out for taxi drivers they speed and park anywhere and locals on mopeds!
•There is many things to do; beautiful beaches(over 50 beaches), shopping, eating, inexpensive wine, water sports, monasteries, medieval castle. One of my favorite things to do, simply take a drive on the ATV in the country side, with the windy blowing, the sounds and smells and happening upon an old monastery.
•Can’t drink the tap water. They have plenty of water bottles for sale and not too pricey, so it really isn’t bad.
•No T.P. in the toilets. This one was a bit of a shocker, but in Greece you are not supposed to flush toilet paper down. We got used to it and they are constantly emptying the garbage. Warning though, while walking down the streets watch out for the sewer lids, they have a mat they place on top but if it gets moved and it’s a hot day, don’t say I didn’t warn you!! The lovely smelling flowers help!
•Stray animals. A ton of stray cats. More cats than dogs.
•It seemed to be a pretty safe vacation spot, not much crime. I think that was mainly because it’s a huge tourism spot. And there aren’t many locals, the workers ride the ferry over from the mainland just to work the whole summer. I literally mean work the whole summer, we were talking with the staff at our hotel and they work 7 days a week the whole summer.
•Tipping (gratitude) is not done in Greece.
•You must try the Freddo coffee! I still dream of it!
•Many different kinds of food and price ranges
•Family friendly vacation island! Not only will adults love the island, kids will too!

Would I travel to the island again? MOST DEFINITELY, I’ve loved to leave right now 🙂

Visiting Washington’s Wine Country #Prosser

prosser washington

This past Fall I headed to Eastern Washington to a little town called Prosser for a hosted weekend, to learn all about Washington’s Wine Country. It wasn’t my first time to Prosser as my parent-in-laws live there, so I am pretty familiar with the town!

Prosser is around a 3 1/2 hour drive from either Seattle, WA or Portland, OR. Once you get to Prosser you won’t be disappointed, they have something for all ages to enjoy. It’s a small charming town surrounded by farm land and a friendly close-nit community. That’s the thing I love most, they are very supportive of each other!

prosser washingtonMy two favorite pictures from the whole trip. Top: Domanico Cellars, Thanks for the wonderful vineyard tour! Bottom: Chinook Wines, Thanks Kay Simon for the beautiful lunch!

We had the pleasure of staying at 7 Gables, the home is beautiful and I loved the French Country feel. It has a beautiful picture perfect outdoor sitting area(my fav) or you may just want to hang in the beautiful kitchen. Each room is complete with it’s own bathroom. It’s perfect walking distance to food and a dozen wineries. Let’s not forget the lovely owner, she’s just a peach.
